The Alberta Express Entry Stream, part of the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), requires candidates to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 to be considered for nomination.
This stream allows Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates from Canada’s Express Entry system.
Candidates who are interested in living and working in Alberta permanently and have expressed this interest in their Express Entry profiles may be selected for an Alberta provincial nomination.

- Active Express Entry Profile: Candidates must have an active profile in the federal Express Entry pool and meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Federal Skilled Worker Program.
- Occupation in Demand: The primary occupation listed in the Express Entry profile should be in demand in Alberta or connected to a provincial economic, sector, or occupational priority.
- Intention to Live in Alberta: Candidates must intend to and be able to live and work permanently in Alberta.
- Minimum CRS Score of 300: A key eligibility requirement is having a minimum CRS score of 300 in the Express Entry pool.
- Not on the Ineligible Occupations List: The candidate’s primary occupation should not be on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list.
Factors Increasing Selection Chances:
- Having an Alberta job offer or being a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Having a parent, child, or sibling who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Alberta.
- French as the first language.
- An Express Entry profile that is valid for more than 5 months.
Selection Process:
The AAIP may send a Notification of Interest letter to candidates in the Express Entry pool based on the selection factors or pathway design.
However, receiving a Notification of Interest letter or being invited to apply does not guarantee nomination.
The selection process is competitive and subject to change based on Alberta’s immigration priorities.
